We are looking for an experienced Commissioning and Service Engineer for a long-term position in international customer projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance, and technical support of mechanical and electrical systems within the marine industry at customer sites around the world. The position is ideal for someone with previous experience in commissioning or servicing industrial systems and who enjoys both hands-on technical work and working closely with customers.
The onboarding will take place in Turku, while international travel will depart from and return to Helsinki. For this reason, it is an advantage if you live near either city and can travel flexibly between them. The role involves extensive international travel (up to 150 days per year).
Responsibilities
Job Description
As a Commissioning and Service Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning industrial systems, performing maintenance work, and ensuring the operational functionality of the systems at international customer sites. You will work closely with customers, the project organization, and subcontractors, ensuring that all work is carried out safely, with high quality, and in accordance with technical requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting systems onboard vessels and at customer facilities
- Managing warranty and service calls for systems in operation
- Supervising installations and performing system startup, testing, and final acceptance together with classification societies and customers
- Contributing to the development of project planning and participating in project meetings
- Defining and recommending technical solutions based on customer and business needs
- Sharing technical information and feedback with the project team to support continuous improvement
Requirements and Competencies
You will succeed in this role if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or Automation
- Practical experience in commissioning, servicing, or testing industrial systems
- Basic knowledge of PLC systems and programming
- Willingness to travel internationally for extended periods (up to 150 days per year)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in English (other language skills are considered an asset)
- Experience in the marine industry is an advantage but not required
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
