We are looking for a Chief Engineer, Mechanics to join our Customer Engineering team in Tampere. In this role, you will take technical responsibility for mechanical engineering within our horizontal transportation projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that our customer deliveries meet high functional and safety standards through effective design, coordination, and collaboration. As the lead technical authority for your discipline, you will oversee the mechanical engineering process from the sales phase through to project completion
The role is based in Tampere, Finland and you will report to the Engineering Manager, Mechanics.
What are your key responsibilities:

Project Engineering & Delivery: Act as the main responsible person for mechanical engineering in defined customer projects. This includes coordinating tasks to ensure on-time delivery, managing workloads, and reporting progress to Project Managers.

Design Oversight: Perform design tasks and oversee the work of nominated internal and external personnel. You will review and approve design documentation and manage the ECO approval process.

Lead Engineering Coordination: Coordinate the work of engineers across different disciplines (e.g., Automation and R&D) to ensure technical cohesion.

Sales & Tender Support: Provide technical expertise during the sales process, including reviewing customer specifications, creating technical sales material (such as dimensional drawings), and providing engineering time estimations.

Process Development: Participate in New Product Development (NPD) projects and R&D actions for straddle carriers, contributing to the continuous improvement of our engineering ways of working.

What you bring to the role:
- Education: M.Sc. or Bachelor's degree in a relevant technology discipline.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or product development.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in 3D design software (Catia V5 is highly preferred). Familiarity with horizontal transportation or straddle carrier applications is a significant advantage. Proficiency in standard office tools (Google Workspace).
- Language skills: Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment. You should have a collaborative mindset and an interest in developing engineering processes.
