Join us and take your career to the next level
Are you ready to take your expertise in robotics and control systems out of the lab and into the real world? We are looking for a Senior MBD Engineer to lead the development of next-generation autonomous mobile machines.
In this role, you won't just be writing code - you'll be defining how heavy-duty machinery navigates and operates in complex industrial environments like container terminals. If you are passionate about Model-Based Design (MBD) and want to see your algorithms move tons of steel with precision, let's talk.
What are your key responsibilities:
As a core member of our team, you will bridge the gap between high-level autonomy and low-level machine control. Your day-to-day will involve:
- Designing Intelligence: Create and implement advanced control and navigation algorithms that allow heavy machinery to drive autonomously.
- Innovating with MBD: Use Matlab/Simulink and other state-of-the-art tools to build, test, and integrate MBD components.
- Validation & Testing: Analyze state-of-the-art technologies and validate them through HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulations and real-world testing.
- Collaborative Engineering: Work alongside internal and external teams to select the best development environments and tools to push the boundaries of what's possible.
What we offer you:
- Rewards that truly count: Enjoy meaningful rewards that support your everyday life and well-being, including a company mobile phone, a flexible Edenred benefit for lunch, commuting, or wellness services, and comprehensive healthcare through Mehiläinen, enhanced by our health insurance fund for additional coverage and peace of mind.
- Safety that moves us forward: Build your career with a company rooted in safety since the 1940s, ensuring stability and an environment that empowers you to speak and be heard.
- Work-life balance: We prioritise work-life balance, providing flexible working hours and a hybrid work model tailored to meet both your needs and those of your team.
- Purpose that drives change: You'll contribute to solutions that transform global trade, creating environmental and operational innovations. You'll be in the driver's seat of ideas, developing digital technologies that set industry standards and position us as the forerunner.
- People who move together: You'll collaborate with people who build lasting relationships through global expertise, connections, and a commitment to sustainability.
Become part of our global network of 5,200 professionals across 120+ countries, where your work drives innovation, sustainability, and meaningful impact around the world.
What you bring to the role:
You are a problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of software and physical systems. You have a deep understanding of how robots interact with the messy, unpredictable real world.
The Essentials:
- Education: An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Automation, IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years in professional software development with a heavy focus on Model-Based Design (MBD).
- Control Expertise: Proven track record in motion planning and control for autonomous vehicles, specifically dealing with sensory feedback, noise, and variable-delay.
- Tooling: High proficiency in Matlab/Simulink.
- Mindset: A collaborative spirit and a sharp analytical mind that can communicate complex ideas clearly in English.
The Bonus Points:
- Experience with Ackermann steering geometry or vehicle motion control.
- Familiarity with HiL simulators and mechatronic setups.
- Knowledge of safety standards (ISO/functional safety) for heavy machinery.
- Experience deploying robotics in challenging outdoor/weather conditions.
