Data Engineer (fixed-term position)
Would you like to play a role in turning data from Finland's largest e-commerce platform, one of the country's most extensive customer bases, and vast volumes of gaming event data into a strong foundation for data-driven decision-making?
We are looking for a Data Engineer to bring additional expertise and insight to our approximately 20-person Data as a Service team, which is part of Veikkaus' TECH organization. This is a fixed-term, full-time position expected to last until the end of 2026.
Our day-to-day work includes maintaining existing solutions, building new ones, and continuously developing our ways of working - both in terms of technology and processes. For those at the beginning of their data engineering career, we value a strong willingness and ability to learn, along with a genuine interest in technical data processing. For more experienced Data Engineers, we expect not only solid expertise and vision, but also a drive to develop team practices and tools, support the implementation of changes, guide daily work, and help colleagues succeed. The role can be shaped based on your strengths and experience.
Our team's scope at Veikkaus is broad. We work across the full data lifecycle - from integrating data through various interfaces, to transforming and storing it, and ultimately delivering it for analytics and other solutions. A significant part of our work focuses on operational ETL/ELT processes. On the development side, we design and build future data platform solutions while continuously improving efficiency.
Our current key technologies include:
- SQL
- GCP and its native services (e.g. BigQuery)
- Kafka
- NiFi
- Pentaho (PDI)
- DBT
We expect you to bring hands-on experience in SQL. Technologies such as GCP, Kafka, and NiFi are more platform-oriented. Familiarity with them is a plus, but you may not work extensively with these, particularly in the beginning. Experience in DevOps is considered an advantage.

The position is located at Veikkaus' headquarters in Pohjois-Haaga, Helsinki. We work flexibly in a hybrid model. To foster collaboration and effective teamwork, we meet at the office three times a week.
