We are looking for a business-savvy Senior Economist with existing knowledge of intellectual property licensing and intellectual property valuation. At Nokia Technology Standards, you will be able to drive independent analysis work while collaborating on strategic projects with business leaders, economists, lawyers, technical experts, and academic researchers.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
You will join our Economic Analysis team. This is a rare opportunity to apply your economic skills to real-world business challenges of monetizing our industry-leading patent portfolio, and to develop your professional skills in collaboration with our world-leading professionals. As part of our team, you will:
- Contribute to deal-making by providing valuation and pricing support
- Provide litigation support on FRAND & valuation topics to our litigation team and outside counsel
- Develop our use patent analytics for portfolio valuation
- Shape Nokia’s views on intellectual-property regulation and innovation policy
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in economics with a focus on microeconomics (esp. industrial organization) and econometrics and an excellent academic track record from a leading university.
- Experience as applied economist in industry or economic consulting is strongly desired. Intellectual property experience, especially with standard-essential patents and FRAND licensing, is a plus.
- An analytical mindset with a strong interest in business-relevant application. Strong initiative and the ability to develop creative solutions.
- Fluency in both written and oral English and excellent communication skills. The ability to communicate and collaborate with non-economist stakeholders and leaders is essential.
- Strong statistical and econometric skills with proven proficiency in a statistical programming language such as R or Stata. Experience and interest in applying AI tools to economic analysis is a plus.
