We are now looking for a Risk Analyst to join our Counterparty Risk Management team. The position in fixed term until end of February 2027. The position is located in Tampere, Finland or in any other UPM location in Finland.

What you will do
You will act as a risk analyst and be part of the Counterparty Risk Management team. The team will strive to ensure that all business units are following the overall requirements and provide oversight in the reduction of compliance risks associated with UPM's counterparties: customers, vendors and other business partners. The team will also support business units in performing required compliance risk management due diligence and monitoring tasks. The team will further ensure that scalable and industry best practices-based counterparty risk framework and tools are continuously improved to drive consistency in assessing, managing, reporting, and communicating risks across the company.
You will report to the Manager of the Counterparty Risk Management team and play an important role in the execution and development of the risk management framework in UPM. You will be responsible for monitoring, assessing and evaluating the counterparty risks at UPM.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a first point of contact in counterparty risk screening matters
- Refining data for regular reporting purposes and ensure full compliance with internal controls
- Actively participate in the development of the screening process and act as multiplier for promoting increased awareness in the compliance area towards functions and businesses
- Maintaining appropriate counterparty risk categorization and mitigation frameworks
- Being responsible for coordination with various project teams to ensure impacts on counterparty risk are clearly understood
- Ensuring that the processes and toolset in counterparty risk management are operatively running as planned. Identifying and communicating risk issues, concepts and mitigations/solutions effectively
- Leading and contributing to the relevant projects, working groups and committees that are affected by counterparty risk management activities
- Maintaining strong collaborative relationships with other critical stakeholders
- Contributing to the embedding of a risk-based culture, coaching, influencing and challenging the businesses, business controllers and other colleagues to take accountability for risk-based decision making
Who you are
- You have excellent knowledge of trade compliance and UPM businesses
- You hold a degree in higher education in a relevant field such as Economics, Risk Management, or Legal studies (studies in Business Law are seen as an advantage)
- You have strong analytical skills to monitor, assess, and evaluate counterparty risks effectively across various business units
- You have the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, coordinating with project teams and stakeholders to understand and manage risk impacts
- You have excellent communication skills to identify, articulate, and propose solutions for risk-related issues and to support a risk-aware culture
- You communicate fluently in English; additional languages are an asset
