We are seeking a (Senior) Product Engineer, Hydraulic Systems , to join the Horizontal Grinding Mill Product Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating hydraulic and lubrication systems for Metso Grinding Mills products. You'll be responsible for optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards while supporting innovation and cost-efficiency in product development.
The location for this role can be Espoo, Finland, West Perth, Australia, or York, USA.
What you'll do
- Develop hydraulic and lubrication systems for new and existing products, including component selection, circuit design, and integration
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop functional product architecture
- Ensure designs meet functional, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Perform calculations, simulations, and modeling for hydraulic circuits and lubrication systems to optimize performance and efficiency
- Conduct failure mode analysis and implement preventive measures
- Develop and execute test plans for hydraulic and lubrication systems
- Analyze test data and provide recommendations for design improvements
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers to ensure seamless integration of hydraulic and lubrication systems
- Support manufacturing and service teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting
- Manage and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, and maintenance guidelines
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO, SAE, etc.) and internal quality processes
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and sustainability in hydraulic and lubrication systems
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in fluid power and lubrication
Who you are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydraulic, Mechanical, or related field
- 5+ years in hydraulic and lubrication systems in industrial applications
- Experience with CAD tools and hydraulic simulation software (e.g., Automation Studio) is seen as a benefit
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic components (pumps, valves, actuators) and lubrication systems
- Familiarity with control systems and integration with hydraulics
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
