ARE YOU AN EXPERIENCED PROJECT LEADER READY TO CHALLENGE THE ORDINARY?
Join St1 Finance to lead finance transformation projects, strengthen change management capability, and to support project leads through practical coaching and example-setting. We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join Business Control and lead some of St1 Finance's most important transformation initiatives. You will take projects from definition to successful implementation, ensuring that plans become outcomes and that new processes, systems and ways of working are adopted in practice.
Your primary focus will be hands-on project execution. At the same time, you will bring disciplined change management into the projects you lead and help other project leads strengthen their own change leadership capabilities through coaching, practical tools and shared learning. This is not a portfolio management or PMO administration role. You will work close to the delivery, the project team and the people affected by change.
You will manage projects within the mandate agreed with the Project Owner. Business ownership, strategic priorities and key business decisions remain with the relevant Finance or business owner. You will ensure that decisions are well prepared, transparent, documented and implemented. You will collaborate with the Investment Management Office and other governance functions where relevant, while remaining focused on project execution rather than ownership of the Finance development portfolio.
St1 is an energy transition company with the vision to be the leading producer and seller of CO₂-aware energy across Finland, Sweden, Norway and the UK. Our portfolio includes oil products, biogas, renewable fuels such as SAF and HVO, and solar power. We are driving major transition projects at our Gothenburg refinery and in other parts of the business. Together, we are curious, committed and caring people here to change the game.
How you’ll help drive the change
As Senior Project Manager, you will combine three connected responsibilities:
1. Lead Project Execution
- You will lead complex Finance transformation initiatives from planning to implementation and handover.
- Define project scope, roadmap, governance, resources and success measures
- Drive execution across Finance, Business Technology, business stakeholders and external partners
- Manage risks, dependencies, budgets and decision-making processes
- Communicate progress and prepare materials for senior stakeholders
- Ensure effective documentation, knowledge transfer and operational handover
2. Lead change management within projects
- You will ensure that change management is embedded into every project from day one.
- Assess stakeholder impacts, readiness and adoption risks
- Create and execute communication, engagement and learning plans
- Support leaders in driving change within their teams
- Remove adoption barriers and track realization of project benefits
- Monitor adoption and business outcomes throughout implementation
3. Coach and support other project leads
- You will help strengthen project and change management capabilities across Finance.
- Coach project managers, workstream leads and subject matter experts
- Share practical tools, templates and best practices
- Facilitate project clinics, peer learning and retrospectives
- Act as a role model for structured and collaborative delivery
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Finance project practices
What you bring to the team
We are looking for a colleague with the drive to challenge, collaborate and grow. To thrive in this role, you likely have:
- At least 8 years of relevant project, programme or transformation management experience, including responsibility for complex cross-functional delivery.
- A strong track record of leading projects from planning through implementation and business adoption.
- Practical experience in organizational change management, stakeholder engagement, communications, learning and readiness.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, steering groups, multidisciplinary teams and external delivery partners.
- Ability to create structure in ambiguous situations, make progress visible and turn decisions into coordinated action.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills in English; other Nordic languages are an advantage.
- A relevant university degree or equivalent expertise gained through experience.
It’s an extra spark if you also
- Have led Finance transformation, FP&A/EPM, ERP, data and analytics, process harmonization or operating-model initiatives.
- Have coached project managers, workstream leads or leaders in practical change management.
- Hold a recognized project or change management qualification, such as PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA or Prosci, while applying methods pragmatically.
How you work
- You are an execution-focused project leader who takes ownership, follows through on commitments and keeps initiatives moving forward.
- You combine structure with pragmatism, bringing enough discipline to manage complexity while avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy.
- You build trust across functions, influence stakeholders effectively and create alignment through collaboration rather than formal authority.
- You understand that successful transformation depends on people adopting new ways of working and actively support leaders and teams through change.
- You are curious and improvement-minded, sharing lessons learned and helping others strengthen their project and change leadership capabilities.
