As a patent manager, you will join a large global team of world-class technical patent specialists and patent managers who manage Nokia’s leading 5G and 6G standard essential patent portfolio. You will work closely with inventors and standards delegates as well as patent professionals to identify and protect high value 5G and 6G inventions, from idealization to patent licensing. Besides, you will also learn from the patent attorneys to create high-quality patents, extending your understanding (beyond the technology) toward patent prosecution. You will manage one of the technical areas in the 3GPP technologies domain: e.g., 6G Physical Layer, 6G MIMO, AI/ML enablers, 6G Control Plane/User Plane, 6G Architecture, 6G Security and Non-Terrestrial Networks. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Work closely with a particular technology area management team

Define annual targets with the research group and the patenting internal stakeholders

Lead a virtual team of technical patent specialists in all patent specialist tasks by delegating and developing the team to drive for results

Work with inventors to enable high value 5G and 6G invention disclosures in a selected technical domain

Work with patenting professionals to enable high-quality patent applications in a selected technical domain

Make decisions on the further development of the global patent portfolio in a selected technical domain

Prepare and manage claim charts showing how patent claims map to 5G and 6G standard specifications, proving high-value high quality patent portfolio development in a selected technical domain

Learning and developing patenting know-how and having possibility to grow to patent attorney role
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Mathematics or Physics. PhD degree is a plus.
- At least 10 years of experience in research or R&D in cellular technologies. Good knowledge on cellular standards such as 5G.
- Experience of leading projects and/or people successfully
- Ability to work proactively, multi-task and meet aggressive timelines
- Excellent teamwork and written and oral communication skills
- An aptitude for continuous learning new and complex technology
