As a Senior HPC (High Performance Computing) Specialist in our Product Development Finland Department, Radio and Layer 1 Unit in Oulu, you will drive the planning, execution, and reporting of hardware digitalization projects focused in HPC infrastructure and environment within mobile network HW development. In this role you will balance resources, manage project deliverables, and ensure alignment with quality and cost targets across relevant stakeholder groups and organizational interfaces.
Your work will involve leading hardware digitalization development projects focused on High Performance Computing infrastructure and environment, specifically in HPC application layer, while also acting as a key connection point between different organizations and supporting project-level coordination.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- IT-Engineering Interface: Act as the primary liaison between IT and simulation engineers, translating requirements, aligning infrastructure with tool needs, and forecasting compute/storage. Collaborate proactively with EDA tool vendors and simulation teams to understand tool roadmaps and prepare IT infrastructure for future updates, while translating simulation requirements into HPC-compatible workflows and system configurations.
- Multiphysics Tool Configuration: Configure, update, and maintain commercial physics-based tools for HPC, ensuring compatibility with job schedulers and supporting benchmarking.
- Simulation Workflow Automation: Develop scripts (Bash, Python) and API-based utilities to automate job preparation, submission, monitoring, and post-processing.
- HPC Environment Optimization: Monitor application performance, troubleshoot HPC jobs, and tune compute, storage, and environment modules with IT.
- Virtual Workstation (VDI) Support: Create, maintain, and optimize virtual workstation images and manage pre-installed tool configurations for simulation access.
- User Training & Documentation: Lead HPC training, create best-practice guides, workflow templates, and usage documentation for engineering tools.
- Collaboration & Process Development: Partner with teams to improve HPC processes and contribute to the long-term strategy for simulation pipelines.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track HPC usage, job metrics, and solver performance, reporting findings and optimization opportunities to management.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Must-Have:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related.
- Proven project management skills with a focus on planning, execution, and reporting, as well as experience in stakeholder management and cross-organizational collaboration.

IT environment skills and experience - Linux and Windows OS experience. At least basic skills with bash, Python, etc., coding languages.

Job Management/Scheduling System (Altair Accelerator, IBM LSF, Slurm) experience in GRID/Cluster environment.

Knowledge of the EDA (design) and simulation tools for the hardware development.

Knowledge in test automation, data management and DevOps solutions.

Deeper competence of hardware development with EDA and simulation tools.

Knowledge of VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) platforms.

Knowledge of low-latency ethernet, VPN solutions.

Please note that this role requires presence at Oulu office and we are not offering international relocation option for this role.
