We are Helsinki Shipyard - celebrating 160 years of shipbuilding excellence. Since 1865, we have been designing, building, and commissioning tailor-made, high-class passenger vessels and icebreakers for extreme conditions. We proudly continue the legacy of Helsinki's own Shipyard, right in the heart of Helsinki.
With us, you get to design and build the ships under one roof from start to finish, in close collaboration with our customers. Our specialty lies in vessels that operate on the polar seas, but we can build everything from smaller yachts to complex multi-purpose icebreakers. We've built over 50% of the world's icebreakers - without us it would be hard to navigate in the icy seas!
We are now constructing a new heavy icebreaker for the Canadian government. The vessel will be built in Helsinki before being completed at Davie's shipyard in Quebec by 2030. Additionally, the design of two icebreakers for the US Coast Guard has begun and the production of the first vessel will start this summer.
Since November 2023, Helsinki Shipyard has been a part of Group Davie together with SATA Shipbuilding in Pori and Chantier Davie in Lévis, Quebec.
We are looking for a Technical Manager to join our Design Department.

You will steer and follow up on the design process and collaborate closely with stakeholders in the shipyard's production organization.
You will also interface with customers, classification societies, design subcontractors, and other stakeholders, taking the lead in communication. You will oversee the detail design process and ensure the timely delivery of documentation to support production. In addition, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and, when needed, guide design development together with relevant stakeholders.
To succeed in this role, you ideally have:
-
A technical background and at least 5 years of experience in shipbuilding or ship design, particularly in detail design

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
