The Director of Product Management drives product strategy development and owns the investment planning for portfolio investments at Nokia Technologies. The core responsibilities of the team include portfolio strategy development and investment planning, competitive intelligence, and portfolio optimization.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Portfolio strategy and investment planning
- Analyzes patent portfolio value drivers and develops frameworks for portfolio valuation
- Identifies and analyzes portfolio development and investment opportunities
- Drives end-to-end investment case modeling and opportunity evaluation
- Owns portfolio investment planning and drives investment allocation decisions
- Defines research, patenting, and acquisition priorities and drives related target setting
- Collaborates closely across TECH to enable effective investment planning
- Drives strategic decision making with structured problem solving and rigorous data analysis
- Develops high-quality decision materials and executive level presentations for key stakeholders
Competitive intelligence
- Develops and maintains competitive intelligence and benchmarking for patent licensing
- Delivers insights into composition and development of the competitive patent landscape
- Develops and validates new metrics and methods for quantifying and comparing patent portfolios
- Analyzes differences and changes in competitor patenting and portfolio management behaviors
- Identifies and leverages relevant internal and external data to deliver fit-for-purpose analyses
- Generates foresight and analyzes technology and business disruptions and competitive dynamics
- Leads the development of competitive intelligence processes, tools, and methods
Patent portfolio optimization
- Drives analytical end-to-end portfolio investment optimization
- Builds fit-for-purpose analytical models to evaluate strategic options and scenarios
- Develops optimization models to guide portfolio strategy and investment decisions
- Develops advanced prescriptive analytical models to inform critical business decisions
- Collaborates closely across TECH to optimize portfolio investments
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of proven experience on strategy, investment planning, and analytical problem solving from both industry and top-tier strategy consulting, investment banking, or private equity
- Strong academic record with a master's degree in a relevant field
- Strong end-to-end understanding of the patent licensing business
- Proven track-record of delivering excellent results in demanding fast-paced project environments
- Strategic thinker with a strong command of analytical problem solving and data analytics
- Highly proficient in advanced end-to-end investment and business case modeling
- Strong command of P&L modeling, profitability and cash flow analysis, and business case modeling
- Experience in combining market and / or operational quantitative models with P&L modeling (e.g. as part of M&A or other strategic decision making)
- Experience in working with large data sets and building quantitative analyses and models (R or Python)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to operate effectively at different levels of abstraction
- Able to handle complex concepts and translate complex analyses into clear recommendations
- Team player with ability and drive to independently produce quality deliverables on tight deadlines
- Highly proficient in producing high-quality materials and sharp executive level presentations
- Self-starter and completer-finisher with project management experience
- Excellent written and communication skills in English
