Lead Process Development Engineer
to join our Process Technology Development and Modelling department in Porvoo, Finland.
We are now looking for a Lead Process Development Engineer specialized in Refining Processes to join our dynamic team of experienced technology, concept development and project management professionals. As a Lead Process Development Engineer, you will be in a key role in enabling refinery transformation towards carbon neutral production by developing solutions to introduce new feedstocks, co-processing technologies and optionality in our current and future assets. The projects range from conceptual and feasibility studies to process design activities in the execution phase of the projects. Together with your expertise, we can do meaningful work to drive Neste forward.

Your role in our team
As a Lead Process Development Engineer, your main responsibilities may include (depending on your competences and interests):

Providing senior-level subject matter (technical) expertise to the development initiatives and projects and/or acting as a development project team leader,

Participation in the oil refinery transformation projects (including the processing bio-based and circular feedstocks)
-
Being responsible for the early phase concept creation
-
Being responsible for modelling the developed process concept
-
Being responsible for maturing the early phase process design in the later stages of the projects
-
Being responsible for supporting R&D in the experiment design
-
Being responsible for evaluating various process alternatives and new processes
-
Supporting Business units in the decision making
-
Helping and advising junior professionals.
You will work closely with other Technology, Process Design and Business Development professionals at Neste. The Process Technology Development & Modelling department enables the successful concept development of new sustainable technologies. We have a multidisciplinary skill set ideal for idea creation and case evaluation due to our deep expertise, experience and sector specific know-how. We have a thorough understanding of different process technologies and proven track record in technology development. Keys to success in this role

M.Sc. or D.Sc. in Chemical Engineering
-
10+ years of strong hands on experience in process design and engineering of Oil Refinery Process Units, Petrochemical Units or Renewable Fuel Process Units
-
Good understanding of Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Configurations
-
Extensive experience in carrying out process simulations, thermodynamic calculations, generation of Heat and Material Balances, preparation of PFDs, PIDs, process equipment sizing calculations and generation of datasheets (reactors, columns, vessels, pumps heat exchangers etc)
-
Ability to develop feasible process concepts
-
Innovative mindset and problem solving attitude

Fluent written and spoken command of English

Excellent interpersonal skills.
